This season, femininity is listed as the #1 factor in dressing up, you can either be the femme fatal, or the sweet girl will be present in every single outfit, always adapting to each person’s personality. The waist will still be our focal point, either with or without a belt. Applications like flowers and embellishments will also be present. Shades of smoke gray will be the principal color for this season that every woman will be wearing this season portraying an elegant and feminine silhouette.

This Fall-Winter collections, in general, presented model figures across the runway with classic looks altered in a peculiar way for a contemporary feeling; puffy sleeves, voluminous shoulders, one-shoulders, jumpsuits, high-waisted skirts, pleats, drapes and ruffled tops were among the favorite revamped classics.

Some designers opted for crunched skirts in different lengths, peacock feathers, leather and animal printed dresses. These are all creations made of flowy fabrics, with lace and other details that soften the woman’s image. Other colors seen on the runway are apple red, purple, peach, and pink; all these are obvious symbols of femininity.

While on the runway the models look ravishing thanks to the dramatic makeup and over the top hair do’s, don’t think that this is not possible to get away with on a daily basis. Lacroix, Givenchy and Karl Lagerfiel for Chanel featured the most dramatic shows on the runway.

If you aim for the more bohemian look, you can also make it feminine, try a ruffled skirt with a white romantic chiffon blouse, pair it up with some flats and a big handbag, don’t forget your bracelets and sunglasses to top it off.

What is more feminine than a woman wearing man’s clothing? There is nothing sexier than a woman with a long sleeve white button down shirt and nothing else. Some designer’s are reinventing tuxedo jackets and translating them for a feminine look, as well as trench coats and other jackets for this Fall-Winter season.

Dressing up is a therapy session for some women, wearing everything designed for a feminine look is like a reflection of a little girl playing dress up with her grandmother or mother. Looking for treasures inside a world of memories.

Femininity comes from within, and the inspiration for your goal can be found anywhere in your closet, as well as any store whether it can be in a retail store or a designer store. Also, in your closet you probably own a ruffled or feathered top you never thought you’d wear again, pair it up with a high waist skirt and stilettos for an elegant chic look. Film and literature also inspire designers looking for that iconic romantic femininity and trying to modernize it; Marie Antoinette and Juliet are among the favorite icons for feminine inspiration.

Remember clothes should always tell a story, so why not re-invent your own story with your own look and personality? It should be fun and always self-assuring your confidence is the brightest way to go.

In my history class, we are playing the roles of the members of Louis XVI’s trial during the French Revolution. My role is the judge and the teacher is giving me a costume to wear. Can anyone come up with any creative ideas to spruce up my costume yet still be fair and unbiased? I want to earn as many points as possible and she gives extra points for creativity.

Answer: Can you come up with a powdered wig, or a long haired womens wig that you can roll and tie in the Louis XVI style? Be sure to have a gavel too!

Question: Thomas Jefferson and Marie Antoinette?

Is it true that while Marie Antoinette was in prison, Thomas Jefferson tried to contact her to move her to America where she could have a fair trial? Or something of the sort?

Answer: I've never heard of that occurring, but I have heard that some French emigres founded a town named "Azilum"--not sure of the spelling, but it translates roughly into "asylum." They hoped to spring Marie Antoinette and the royal children and bring them to this place--I think it was either in Ohio or western Pennsylvania. I'm a bit fuzzy on it because I was only about 9 or 10 when I read the story in a book--I think it was a grade school one on Pennsylvania history.

Marie Antoinette Letter To Her Mother

Marie Antoinette Letter To Her Mother
Marie Antoinette Letter To Her Mother

Toniette, as she like her friends and family to call her, was a mere 14 when she became the promised wife to the future King of France. Her passive arrival as a Duchess from Austria to this place was surreal, in that it was a marriage made for political purposes…that is to cement France to Austria and insure peace throughout Europe.

Her commitment to her future was anything but passive. She was well trained by her mother, the Empress of Austria…and committed to the betterment of her subjects. And immediately she absorbed her life a French citizen.

At the time of her arrival to the Court of Louis XV, her future husband’s grandfather…there was a great amount of turmoil regarding the current King’s moral life. And indeed, he lived a life that included a famous mistress, Lady du Barry.

The young Marie Antoinette, although captivated by Louis X V…felt she could not acknowledge this terrible moral disfigurement he was doing to the crown. She took it upon herself to try and reduce the influence of du Barry.

But her mother, through letters. encouraged her to endear herself to the King by acknowledging Lady du Barry at least minimally. Marie Antoinette did do this, and indeed, it made Louis XV very happy.

Due to the current King being alive and governing, as well as Marie Antoinette and the future, Louis XVI, being very young, they did not receive a lot of education on the governing of state. They knew a great deal about how to behave as aristocracy, but had very little practical knowledge.

This lack of knowledge is what doomed them. France at that time was going through terrible un-seasonable weather and had a number of years of poor rainfall and very cold weather. Their wheat crops suffered greatly. People were starving.

Marie Antoinette had a wonderful desire to help people, but did not know these details. She anonymously helped many people she saw harmed by the royalties excesses. But she also felt a need to maintain a life of royal traditions…and these activities of balls, parties and material possessions finally gave the public a target to vent their anger.

Since she was a foreigner, and for the longest time…7 years to consummate her marriage (due to her husband’s lack of interest) before having a child, she was easily vilified.

However from all her documents, it appears she dearly wanted to help the people. And she intervened many times with her husband to do so. They particularly opposed the nobles refusal to pay taxes, which would have instrumental in salvaging the economy of France at that time.

In the end, the blood thirst for a scapegoat was too much. First the King was beheaded…and 9 months later Marie Antoinette was as well. The current opinion is that two inexperienced people, who wanted nothing but the best for the people were swept up in the tide of terror that characterized that period.

And, the Guillotine was considered an instrument of humanitarian usefulness.
