Marie Antoinette Ghost

Here’s the usual scenario every Halloween: you walk into a party in your Frankenstein costume, feeling hip and original. But as soon as you step through the door, you realize the inevitable: there are about ten other Frankenstein’s like you, dressed in the exact same tattered clothing and green mask!
Nothing drains the life out of a costume party more than having people wear the exact same costume. Tired of being the seventh ghoul in the room? Is seeing one more Wicked Witch stroll by enough to make you cry? Are you looking for fresh costume ideas for your next Halloween ball? Well, you’ve come to the right place. This article will give you ideas for the freshest, most original Halloween costumes for adults.
First things first. Just because it’s Halloween, it doesn’t mean you have to dress up as a monster, ghost or witch. For grown-ups, especially, Halloween is just another fun excuse to throw a party – and a costume party at that! So, that means you can come as virtually anyone or anything in the world! Yes, some people even opt to go as gadgets, like Ipods or TV screens.
Inspiration for costumes can be found everywhere. Sometimes, all you have to do is think about stuff that you like: favorite TV shows, favorite books, favorite pop icons, movies, etc. Or think about what you fancy you would be in an alternate universe or in a so-called “past life.” Think you could’ve been Cleopatra? Well, go as her! You think you ought to have been born in pre-revolution France? Well, try going as Marie Antoinette. It would be hilarious if you could lug a cake around with you too.
Some people find inspiration in food. Especially for the men, why don’t you try going as a can of coke or a slice of pizza? You can even dress up as a keg of beer. All you’ll need is a barrel.
It would also be great to go as a TV personality, like Ugly Betty for example. All you’ll need are a big pair of glasses and some mismatched clothing. Ladies can also opt to make their fairytale dreams come true by going as a Disney Princess. There are so many of them to choose from: Ariel the Little Mermaid, Belle, Cinderella, Pocahontas, Mulan – the list could go on forever! For the Audrey Hepburn enthusiast, why don’t you go as Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany’s?
Another idea is dressing up as your alter-ego, as the exact opposite of who you are in real life. Are you quiet and bookish? Go as a rock star! Are you athletic and sporty? Go as a typical nerd (glasses, gelled hair, etc.).
There are many, many ideas you can choose from when thinking about costumes for Halloween. The important thing is to find something that you’ll be comfortable in and will express your personality. And of course, don’t forget to be original! Leave the witch costume to those with no creativity.

Versailles in Paris is one of the most popular attractions in France. It is a beautiful place with remarkable architecture, beautiful interiors and stunning landscaped gardens. Not surprising, many tourists around the world want to embark on a Versailles tour to see for themselves the beauty and grandeur of the famous Versailles palace.
The château de Versailles symbolised the great power of the French monarchy. It was built in 1624 as a hunting lodge for Louis XIII. Later, it was developed by Louis XIV and became the largest palace in Europe. For the development of this project, Louis XIV had engaged architects Louis Le Vau and Jules Hardouin-Mansart, painter Charles Le Brun and landscaper André Le Nôtre. By 1774, after alterations by Louis XV and XVI, it became a grand and huge place, housing more than 10,000 courtiers and servants.
The Versailles palace possesses a stunning combination of wonderful paintings, special mirrors, exclusive fabrics and fantastic interiors. The main highlights of the château are the King’s State Bedroom, Queen’s Bedroom, Hall of Mirrors and Chapelle Royale. The main apartments are located on the first floor of the château. The first floor of the Chapelle Royale was reserved for use by the royal family whilst the ground floor by the court. The interior of the Chapelle Royalle are beautifully decorated. Great state occasions used to be held in the Hall of Mirrors, which is a magnificent multi-mirrored room, with a length of about 73m.
Apart from the château, there are the Grand Trianon, Petit Trianon, Hameau de la Reine (Queen’s Hamlet) and the vast gardens. The Grand Trianon at Versailles was built by Louis XIV in 1687. It is a small place for him to escape from the formal duties of the château and enjoy the company of his mistress, Madame de Maintenon. This building is made of stone and pink marble. The Petit Trianon, another building, was built in 1762 as a retreat for Louis XV. The Hameau de la Reine (Queen’s Hamlet) was built at the request of Queen Marie-Antoinette, who wanted a refuge from the daily tasks of the chateau. It was a farm with orchards and fields which used to produce food for the royal table.
The vast gardens in Versailles span an area of approximately 8 sq km. The gardens are formed by structured patterns and consist of pathways, shrubberies, flowerbeds, pools and fountains. Furthermore, there are many beautiful statues which form part of the attractions of the gardens. These sculptures are being covered up during the winter months.
If you wish to explore thoroughly the historical and architectural heritage of the Versailles palace, you will need to spend more than a day in Versailles. On Saturdays and Sundays, during the period from April to September, you will be able to see the fountains dance according to music. An extra is fee charged to enter the gardens during this period. The Versailles palace is usually very crowded on Sundays.
Versailles is indeed a remarkable place with grand interiors, beautiful paintings and lovely gardens. You can find many fascinating highlights here. A Versailles tour is necessary to fully appreciate its beauty and grandeur. Without doubt, you will enjoy the wonderful insights this place offers. ItÂ’s an event that youÂ’ve been looking forward to for years. It took you a long time to take that all important, enormous first step to get the ball rolling and when you eventually did things kind of snowballed. ItÂ’s been a long and drawn out process and now it is finally over. You didnÂ’t get everything that you wanted but then neither did he. At least you were treated fairly, really you canÂ’t ask for more than that. And now youÂ’re free and you want to celebrate. Is that weird? So what. The people that youÂ’ll invite will understand. TheyÂ’re the ones who stood by you throughout the whole thing anyway. You all need a big relaxing shindig to mark the end of an era and the beginning of a new one. You are going to have a party. And youÂ’re going to go large, do it the proper way, hire an events coordinator because youÂ’ll be damned if youÂ’re going through the added stress of planning something like this after what youÂ’ve just been through. And why not? You deserve it.
You and your coordinator decide on a masked ball theme. You’ve always wanted one and but you always thought that they were a bit too fancy for anything held at home. But now you figure, what the hell, it’s your night. You want masks so you’re having masks. Next is the colour theme, which is quite hard to decide on considering all the options and the fact that you like so many colours. But you want something rich and decadent so you go for baroque red and purple with flashes of silver here and there. The menu is easier to decide on, butternut soup to start, chicken and fish as meat options, sugar snap peas, sweetened carrots, sweet potato, creamed spinach, roast potatoes, cauliflower and broccoli bake and pumpkin. Desserts are trifle, caramel mint tart, and chocolate mousse. You leave the décor, the music, the seating and the invitations up to the coordinator, after all that’s what you’re paying for. You will provide each table with 2 bottles of wine but the bar will be cash. After all you’ve just come through a divorce and you’re not that rich.
The coordinator checks in with you periodically in the weeks and days leading up to the party to keep you informed as to the progress made and to keep you up to date on the guest list. Sometimes you check in on them, just to keep them on their toes, although it hardly seems to be necessary because they are very professional and on the ball. They have even organised costume hire so that guests who rsvp can arrange costumes directly through them. You, of course have had your costume for ages. You look like Catwoman, only better.
The day of the big event arrives. People swarm all over your home turning it into a baroque treasure trove, you barely recognise it, it looks so exotic. ItÂ’s exactly how you imagined it would be. The day wears on and the lighting is sorted out, the music gets set up, the caterers arrive and take over your kitchen with the minimum amount of complaint at the restricted space (which really isnÂ’t restricted at all but caterers arenÂ’t happy unless they complain about something and its usually the space). The coordinator leaves a manager in charge of the event to oversee everything and to handle anything that may come up, a team of waiters and waitresses arrive to walk around with trays of snacks and to carry drinks from the bar. Soon you have to change into your costume because it is nearly time for guests to arrive.
Your guests arrive dressed as everyone from Marie Antoinette to Strippers from Moulin Rouge, from Batman to Billy the Kid. They loved the invitations, they love the theme, and they love the décor. As the night wears on they love the food and the wine. They love the music and they love dancing. Everyone dances. Everyone toasts your freedom and dances some more. Everyone agrees that you are well rid of whatzizface, toasts you again and has another round on the dance floor. By 6:30 in the morning everyone agrees that it was the best happy divorce party that they’ve ever been to and they can’t understand why people don’t have more.
By 7:30 that morning, when everyone has gone and youÂ’ve wriggled out of your Catwoman costume and slipped into your baggiest pajamas and into bed, you set you alarm for 14:00 and smile because you donÂ’t have to clean up. The coordinator will be here at 15:00 with a clean up crew and all you have to do is sip coffee and watch. All parties should be so easy.

I have fond memories of Halloween in my childhood home. My sister and I would of course put on our costumes and go home-to-home proclaiming “Trick or Treat!” and collecting enough candy to thoroughly rot our teeth. Then we would return home to sit on the floor in front of the television still in our costumes and watch Disney’s animated version of Washington Irving’s, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.
As we got older my sister became more creative and began concocting elaborate haunted houses and parties Halloween food from those parties are in my Halloween Recipe Collection.
I can remember a year where we had a guillotine that had a wooden blade that would come sliding down to “behead” the damsel that was unfortunate enough to have been drafted for the role of Marie Antoinette. That year we also had a bowl full of slimy eyeballs that were nothing more than skinless grapes, yet felt both very convincing and disgusting when you were blindfolded & asked to put your hand in the bowl. One of my favorite effects was a bubbling witches cauldron that she filled with lemonade and 7-Up and colored with green food coloring. After the punch was poured into a black plastic bucket, she dropped in dry ice to make it boil, bubble and smoke.
My sister is six years older than I, and the Halloween parties that she would host for our friends had to be not only fun for my playmates, but they had to impress her cool older friends too – that included over-the-top Halloween food! Many of the recipes in my Halloween Recipe Collection began as our first attempts to impress other ghosts, ghouls, and beasts.
Now that I am older and have a child of my own, I am always looking for new ways to create something special for her Halloween and I am very thankful that I had a creative sister for starting me on the road to the fun foods in my Halloween Recipe Collection! I hope that some of the recipes will inspire you.
