Madame du Barry was born on August 19, 1743 and died on December 8, 1793. She was a courtesan (high class prostitite) who later became the last mistress of Louis XV, King of France. Madame du Barry was Louis XV's mistress from 1768 until his death in 1774.

Madame du Barry was born as Marie Jeanne Becu. She was an illegitimate daughter of her parents who were lower class and were poor. Madame du Barry 's mother was a cook in Paris. After a convent education, Madame du Barry was a shop assistant, under the name Jeanne Vaubernier, in a fashion house in Paris. While there she became the mistress of Jean du Barry, a Gascon nobleman. After meeting, Comte Jean Du Barry, Madame du Barry spent four years working as a high class expensive prostitute.
