Question: Did King Louis know about Marie Antoinette’s affair with Count Fersen?
Im writing a paper and wanted to use this as an example, however, I wanted to know if Louis knew about their affair first. If anyone knows, please let me know and please cite a source if you can. If your just going to respond with “i dont know” or “who cares” then f*** off.
Answer: The affair was never irrevocably proven though there are documented instances when they were together and it could have happened. If Louis knew about it, the queen would have been in deep trouble because for the queen to commit adultery was treasonous and she would have been executed or at least imprisoned otherwise. Fersen would have been punished, or at least exiled if the king knew but the affair wasn't public knowledge.
