Who Was Madame Du Barry

Question: How can I become just like Madame du Barry?

Madame du Barry, Marie Antoinette’s enemy. How do I become like her?

Answer: Try looking her up on Wikipedia instead of asking us. There was a LOT more to her life that being Marie's enemy. She was a courtesan to the aristocracy of Paris. That means she was a high-priced hooker to the rich and powerful. Is that your career goal?

Madame du Barry: The Wages of Beauty

Du Barry was the last in a long series of royal favorites doted on by the sexually voracious Louis XV. Her humble origins–she was the illegitimate child of a seamstress from Lorraine–made her unusual.

Contemporaries often dismissed her as a mere whore, and most historians have treated her little better, calling her naive, frivolous, and vain. Haslip, author of previous biographies of Catherine the Great and Marie Antoinette, concludes that, except for her rare beauty, du Barry was a quite ordinary person who happened to be thrust into extraordinary circumstances.

Despite occasional minor slips, the author’s grasp of the Old Regime is generally reliable. Her book provides no surprises for specialists, but offers the general reader a clear, sure guide to life at the royal court of 18th-century France. Recommended for public libraries. – - T.J. Schaeper, St. Bonaventure Univ., N.Y.

From Kirkus Reviews

In this brief romantic biography of the last mistress of Louis XV, Haslip (Marie Antoinette, 1988, etc.), now 80, brings a special charm to the story of du Barry (1743-93), whose legendary beauty brought both rewards and penalties: power, wealth, envy, fear, and, ultimately, death. Illegitimate child of a French peasant, Jeanne Be‡u was educated in a convent until, at 15, she emerged a golden-haired, lisping beauty who worked as a hairdresser and a milliner’s assistant–but who was, in fact, a prostitute. Discovered by Jean du Barry, a dissolute gambler and pimp to the aristocracy, she was introduced at Versailles, where Louis XV, 58, a widower, became infatuated with her.

After her hasty and unconsummated marriage to Jean’s brother, Guillaume, comte du Barry, Mme. du Barry became the king’s official mistress and one of the wealthiest women in France, a wealth she shared with, among others, her beloved “niece,” Betsi, whom Haslip “suspects” may have been her illegitimate daughter. Mme. du Barry was also hated, especially by Marie Antoinette, who arranged to have her imprisoned after the death of Louis. Released after one year, Mme. du Barry recovered her jewels, her estate, and a series of lovers, including an English neighbor who ultimately rejected her–a “little-known” story that Haslip reveals. In the early stages of the Revolution, Mme. du Barry traveled often to England, possibly as a courier for ‚migr‚s but ostensibly to try to recover stolen jewels that had been impounded there.

She returned to France only to be beheaded for her aristocratic associations. Although more extensive, scholarly, and even popular biographies of du Barry are available, this one has a particular appreciation for the decorative arts that women like du Barry cultivated–arts that included the remaking of themselves–and for the hazards of beauty when it comes close to political power. The lavish language recalls the style of Regency novels, for which this could serve as a reference. (Eight pages of b&w photographs–not seen.)

Jean-Honore Fragonard was one of the most celebrated French painters & printmakers of the eighteenth Century. His works were set in the ‘Rococo’ style of painting, centered on the luxurious, aristocratic life, rather than that of self-righteous martyrs and heroes. Jean was born on April 5, 1732 in Grasse, France, to a middle-class family of François Fragonard, a glove maker. In 1738, the Fragonards moved to Paris after François went broke.

When eighteen, Jean’s aptitude for arts prompted his father to get him enrolled under François Boucher, the then Royal Painter. Boucher recognized Jean’s talent, but due to his inexperience, sent him to the distinguished painter, Jean-Baptiste Siméon Chardin, in 1750, for laying a strong foundation in painting. Trained Jean-Honore Fragonard returned to Boucher after six months, for further profound grooming. In 1752, the polished painter won the prestigious Prix de Rome scholarship for “Jeroboam sacrificing to the Golden Calf (1752).” Pursuing this, he opted for three-years training in ‘History painting,’ at the École Royale des Elèves Protégés, Paris.

Jean-Honore Fragonard then ventured out to explore Italy and joined the French Academy in Rome, on September 17, 1756. Here, he befriended fellow artist, Hubert Robert. Together, the duo travelled throughout Italy, capturing the exotic sceneries onto their canvas. Fragonard’s paintings like “Saint Celestine V Renouncing the Papacy (1761),” were archetypical of the Flemish and Dutch styles, with loose, yet powerful brush strokes. After a spell of five years, Jean returned to Paris in 1761.

In 1765, his painting “Coresus et Callirhoe (1765)” received huge critical acclaim and appreciation. Marveled by this work, King Louis XV bought and treasured it. This patronage of the King earned him more assignments, like the series of paintings commissioned by Madame du Barry, the official mistress of Louis XV. With time, Jean’s works attained maturity, with romance and subtle eroticism finding a prominent place there, as in “Serment d’amour (Love Vow) (1760s),” “La Culbute (The Tumble) (1766),” “L’oscillation (The Swing) (1767),” “Le Verrou (The Bolt) (1777-78),” “La Chemise enlevée (The Shirt Removed) (1770),” and “The Stolen Kiss (1788).” These bold paintings portrayed the subjects in various amorous positions against a backdrop of lush green landscapes adorned with mythological statues and attractive flowers. The tepid public response to these bold series of paintings made him experiment with ‘Neoclassicism,’ giving up ‘Rococo’ completely.

Meanwhile, Jean-Honore Fragonard married in 1769, and had a daughter, who later became his favorite subject in his paintings. In October 1773, he again went to explore Italy with his friend, Pierre-Jacques -Onésyme Bergeret de Grancourt. Among the paintings created during this time were “Seated Man Reading (1773-4),” “A Fisherman Pulling a Net (1774),” and “A Fisherman leaning on an Oar.” On his return to Paris, he fell in love with his wife’s sister, with whom he had a son, Alexandre-Évariste Fragonard, in 1778. Alexandre was also a brilliant painter and sculptor. With the outbreak of the French Revolution, Jean’s fellow artists and benefactors were forced to leave France. He himself took refuge at his friend’s place in Maubert, Grasse in 1793. He also painted huge panels in this house, and named the series, “Les progrès de l’amour dans le cÂœur d’une jeune fille.”

After his return to Paris in the early nineteenth century, he died on August 22, 1806 in anonymity. The French Revolution seized away the sheen from his glorious career, and his identity as one of the greatest French artist was lost. Later researches, however, rediscovered the artist, bringing into light his brilliant ‘Rococo’ style, and courageous outlook towards painting. Jean was a prolific artist, who created at least 550 paintings. His work is appreciated and exhibited in many art galleries, such as Louvre (Paris), Wallace Collection (London), and the National Gallery of Art (Washington, DC).

Question: A good recipe for Creme du Barry soup?

I used to go to a cafe that made fantastic creamy, thick, tasty Creme du Barry soup. I had a go at making it one christmas & everyone liked it… but it just wasnt the same. The cafe one had a thick white almost sauce like consistency.

Anyone know a good recipe?

(Creme du Barry – a cauliflower, & chicken soup)

Answer: Potage Creme Dubarry

This creamy soup gives the humble cauliflower sophisticated status

prep time 10 mins

cooking time 45 mins

1 cauliflower

4 tablespoons of butter

1 ½ tablespoons flour

2 ½ cups chicken stock

1 onion peeled and chopped

2 medium egg yolks

2 / 3 cup double cream

grated cheese

nutmeg

salt and pepper

garnish with snipped chives

Trim the cauliflower and break into florets.

Cook gently in boiling salted water for 5 mins, drain and set to one side.

Melt the butter in a large pan and add the flour cook for 1 to 2 mins.

Stirring all the time then remove from the heat.

Add the chicken stock and onions return to the heat.

Stirring constantly bring to the boil then simmer for 20 mins.

Allow to cool, add the cauliflower and blend.

Return the soup to the pan and reheat.

Lightly beat together the egg yolks, cream and a little of the cheese to taste.

Stir in a little of the soup then add to the soup in the pan.

Gently cook until thickened season with salt and pepper and grated nutmeg.

Garnish with the snipped chives.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is a great recipe, usually when i make it I forget one ingredient and it still taste good, that might be why yours did not have the colour and consistency that you got from the Cafe you had previously eaten it at.

Las Vegas Nevada is known for its legendary entertainment. Concert goers can see rare vintage acts like Barry Manilow, Cher, Bette Midler, Tom Jones, Tony Bennett, Wayne Newton and Elton John. They can see Las Vegas shows of famous comedians, such as David Spade, Howie Mandell, Ray Romano, Jerry Seinfeld and Chris Rock. Magic fans can see the best-of-the-best with David Copperfield, Criss Angel, Sigfried & Roy and Penn & Teller. You can play The Price Is Right or walk the deck of the Starship Enterprise on some of Las Vegas’s interactive sets or you can watch people get hypnotized, in both G-rated and X-rated environments. No matter what strikes your fancy, you’ll find a tantalizing Las Vegas show.

Cirque Du Soleil has become synonymous with mystifying contortionists, surrealism-meets-theatre, mysterious music and superior lighting. The Bellagio Hotel is hosting “O,” which is one of the best of all the shows in Las Vegas, blending an “aquatic tapestry of artistry, surrealism and theatrical romance,” as the site explains. The Mirage has The Beatles LOVE performance, which celebrates the music of the Brit-pop band, along with imaginative acrobatic performers tackling mind-bending stunts in colorful costumes.

At New York-New York, Zumanity (18+) blends erotic burlesque with acrobatic fun. Mystere at Treasure Island is probably the most kid-friendly of the Cirque shows, thrilling with high-power acrobatics, inspirational imagery and intriguing theatre. Lastly, KA at the MGM Grand Hotel is the hero’s journey that is bound to impress audiences of all ages. The fall of 2008 will see Criss Angel pair with Cirque Du Soleil for his “Believe” performance, which is one of the best selling shows even though it has yet to open. Don’t forget to get your Las Vegas show tickets!

Vegas hotels offer stupendous theatrical entertainment. The Phantom of the Opera at the Venetian Hotel is hands-down one of the best shows. Even if you’ve seen the movies before or listened to the CDs, there’s just something inspiring and unforgettable about hearing an Andrew Lloyd Weber musical live. No detail was spared in the creation of the Phantom’s $40-million, custom-built Opera House, with its rich red velvet seats and curtains, gold statues and carvings, hand-painted ceilings and Belgium-built mannequins.

While some of the speaking scenes were cut from the 3-hour version, all the songs will be in the 90-minute version. Even if you’ve seen Phantom before, the Las Vegas “Spectacular” version adds extravagant, custom-built backdrops — a new Opera House facade with twinkling lights, an epic computer-controlled chandelier and state-of-the-art Las Vegas Nevada effects. Tickets can cost $100, but it’s worth every penny.

Its shows come in all shapes and sizes, for all interests and age groups. There are, of course, a huge number of adult-themed shows, strip clubs and red light bars in the “city of sin.” Bally’s “Jubilee” is the best 18+ topless show with 1,000 different costumes (albeit skimpy ones), 8,000 miles of sequins and Swarovski crystal plated clothing. Singing, dancing and acrobatics complement this exciting adult show. Zumanity, a Cirque Du Soliel show, blends surreal fantasy and eroticism in a titillating way, making it one of the most popular selling performances in the city Las Vegas.

The massive amount of recent advertisements for reverse mortgages may be tempting – but the negatives of a reverse mortgage can have far reaching consequences to consider.

The important thing to remember is even if the negatives of a reverse mortgage do not impact you directly, they can be extremely difficult for your survivors – or even for you if you choose to ever leave your home. A reverse mortgage is different from a regular mortgage or home equity loan in that there are no payments to consider – there will not be a bill hanging over your head after you receive your money. But you will be losing equity in your home, something you do need to think about.

Reverse mortgages have yet to catch on in the same way that second mortgages and other loans have, so fewer people are truly aware of what happens when you get a reverse mortgage. These mortgages only comprised .7 percent of all mortgages in the US last year – a very small portion of the mortgage world. What happens in a reverse mortgage starts out simple – a lender agrees to pay you monthly payments in cash or available money, in effect purchasing the equity of your home from you in payment installments.

In this way, the negatives of a reverse mortgage do not seem so obvious. You are getting money, not having to borrow against your home, and you cannot be kicked out of your home for non-payment of a loan. Unfortunately, there are hefty fees levied against your equity, meaning you actually will get less money via payments than your house is worth. Additionally, you will be leaving your family with a debt if you pass on – one that will require them to take action.

If a family member gets left your home or property that has a reverse mortgage, they will be required to either pay back the money you received in order to keep the home, or sell it in order to get what ever remaining equity is left in the home and pay back your mortgage. Additionally, they are forced to go through many hoops and may not be able to actually live in the home, which can be a difficulty for some families.

It is important to think about all of the ramifications of the reverse mortgage before choosing this way to get additional money. The negatives of a reverse mortgage can outweigh the positives, making this a less than ideal choice for your family.

Barry Waxler writes about the disadvantages of a reverse mortgage at http://www.UFCAmerica.com

What Happened Between Madame Du Barry And Marie Antoinette

On Paris’ Rue Jean Gujon stands this beautiful luxury hotel. Right in the heart of the city and practically without any artificial touristy trappings. Walking into the lobby of the Sofitel Champs Elysees-Paris you will be taken up by the personal touch, the intimacy of this luxury five star hotel without being overwhelmed.

Situated between the Seine River and Avenue des Champs Elysees this is one of the luxury hotels which is close to all the gorgeous attractions of the city, including the important media centers.

The ambience of the Sofitel Champs Elysees is redolent with a unique blend of traditional and contemporary: the structure is decidedly 19th century with all the modern facilities. Some people find its shared entrance with the Paris Press Club a little bit of an oddity yet some think it is funky, fun even.

The Sofitel Champs Elysees-Paris has been designed very intelligently with each room overlooking a courtyard and allowing in plenty of sunlight and fresh air. Other facilities include a 24-hour front desk, daily newspapers, free wireless internet a restaurant, bar, room service, etc.

During the evening guests usually love to walk around the wide and colorful Parisian boulevard of Champs Elysees dotted with specialty shops, coffee houses, bars and restaurants. Going around the 8th arondissement they can get into the Place de la Concorde, one of the main squares of the city. Designed in 1755 it was called Place Louis XV and later Place de la Revolution where Louis the 15th was the first member of the royalty to be guillotines to be followed by other notables like Queen Marie Antoinette, Madame du Barry, and Danton, to name a few.

Going towards the west you get into the landmark road junction of the city where as many as 12 avenues meet. No wonder this place is referred to as the Place de l’Etoile or ‘Star Square’. Although re-named Place Charles de Gaulle in 1970 after the former French President, yet most people prefer to call it by its original name.

And if you are on Place de l’Etoile how can you miss the Arc de Triomphe? This arc (of triumph, you guessed correctly) pays homage to the brave soldiers who fought for France. Beyond the arc you will get to see an assortment of grand thoroughfares and buildings.

Going on to the first arondissement you will find yourself in Palais du Louvre or Louvre Palace which houses the world-famous Louvre Museum. What began as a fortress in the 12th century is now a grand repository of the fine arts. The museum is mainly known for the oil painting executed by Leonardo da Vinci in the 16th century, Mona Lisa. Yet, equally sought after happen to be its Islamic collection, Egyptian antiquities, and drawing collection.

Coming out of the museum you will find yourself on the right bank of the Seine River. Artists like Renoir, Sisley, Monet, and Van Gogh have paid earnest and heart-felt tributes to this river flowing through Paris through their paintings. Taking a stroll beside the Seine you won’t be surprised to see artists furiously sketching away or musicians singing paeans to the Seine.

Your walk back to the luxury hotel will be equally pleasurable.

Beautiful cutlery is something every household should have. Nothing asserts style more than treating your family or guests to a delicious dinner accompanied by authentic, top-of-the-range cutlery. We understand that when it comes to luxury cutlery, not everyone knows the ins and outs of the history or quality of their designs. So we have decided to take the initiative to enlighten you on the 3 best cutlery sets currently available, just in time for the Christmas period.

One of our most favourites is the Guy Degrenne cutlery set. For over 50 years Guy Degrenne has led the European designers in table top products to become one of Europe’s highly esteemed and major brands in both formal and casual dining. Their collections are well designed, functional, and of high quality with a very French touch about them. This range is available in both the Premier and Essential collection.

If you’re going for a more casual and practical range, we highly recommend the Amefa Monogram set. This price fighting and very affordable range offers an excellent balance between quality and cost. The set is dishwasher safe, which means they are highly durable and in no need of any special care. Coming with a 10 year Amefa guarantee, this casual but qualitative set is perfect for everyday dinners, family get-togethers and more.

We finish with the finest range of cutlery available from the esteemed Arthur Price range. The man himself was believed to have said over 100 years ago that one could always tell a host’s character by how they set their dining table, and that tradition still remains to this day. This range includes the beautiful Dubarry cutlery set, adding a touch of classic sophistication to the meal, no matter which table it may accompany. Being in the cutlery business since 1902, Arthur Price have prided themselves on maintaining the highest level of skill, technological innovation, styling and commitment into all their products.

With the Christmas period looming in, it would be a grand idea to make sure the basics are set and prepared now before it’s too late. No, we don’t mean to lay the table now before your guests arrive one month later. We mean it is important you have the little things done and dusted so you don’t forget and end in a panic. Having said that, we must stress that these magnificent cutlery sets need not be an investment. At affordable prices like these you can impress your guests with the authenticity of your tableware with little effort!

About Table Top Traders: We are a Weymouth-based company that specialise in trading luxury cutlery and kitchenware online. We strive on improving customer choice and offer quality goods including kitchenware, cutlery and children’s play areas.

Having a bad credit doesn’t mean you are ineligible to apply for a mortgage loan. The prime loan may be out of the question but you can still qualify for other loan programs. For people who have poor credit rating, applying for a subprime mortgage is the preferred alternative among consumers who don’t meet the minimum criteria of the prime mortgage loan lenders.

Generally, consumers are well aware of the difference between prime and subprime. Prime mortgage loans are the ideal programs but you have to meet the requirements before you can even avail of that option. Other than a good credit score, you are also required to place a deposit for the property you plan to purchase.

What is subprime mortgage?

Subprime mortgage loans are loan products extended to people with bad credit scores. They don’t qualify for regular mortgage loans because they are unable to meet the minimum criteria. They may attempt to apply for the conventional loans but they’ll get a declination from the lender. Subprime mortgages target people with poor credit. These people are considered high risk and default is likely high as well.

The interest rates are a lot higher than conventional prime loans. This is in view of the credit risk to the lender for people with lower credit rating. Although rates vary, the average rate may be two or three notches higher than those who have applied for prime mortgage loans.

There are lenders who specialize in subprime loans. In fact, even regular mortgage companies offer subprime loans to consumers as well. To find a subprime mortgage loan lender, you need to get in touch with your mortgage loan broker. He will help you find a lender that will suit your individual needs. Usually, he will ask you to fill up a quote request and from there, he will solicit quotes from various lenders.

Since a lot of lending institutions offer subprime, you will be presented with options. You will have the chance to review the mortgage rates and financial agreement in the contract before selecting the mortgage company. Discuss your financial situation with your mortgage broker. Do not rush into signing a contract without being fully aware of the terms and understanding every fine print in the agreement. As subprime loans are padded with a higher rate, assess your finances and ask yourself if you are prepared to take on the credit risk.

With so much to do and see in the area planning an itinerary for Las Vegas is extremely difficult. The length of time that youÂ’re planning to spend in the area will determine exactly what you have time to do. If youÂ’re only staying for a day or two then you need to concentrate a lot of activities into that period and will only be able to spend a short time on any given activity or else cut down on the number of activities. If you are visiting Las Vegas on holiday then try to spend at least four or five days there as any less than that will prevent you from experiencing the area properly. You may have other constraints on your time that will dictate the length of your Las Vegas itinerary. Since the time you have will what you can fit in it is easiest to put together a plan based on the days you are in Las Vegas rather than the number of activities you want to partake in.

If you’re in the area for two days or less then you are restricted to activities and destinations that are very close to your accommodation when planning your holiday itinerary for Las Vegas. Most people stay at the hotels on “the Strip” and since the hotels and casinos are clustered together, their attractions will be clustered together too. The essential things that must be included on a holiday itinerary in Las Vegas are gambling looking at “the Strip.” Each of the hotels has a different set of attractions that you need to have a look at while you’re there and you cannot go to Las Vegas and not gamble, regardless of your overall itinerary. A way to do both at one is to do a tiny bit of gambling at each one and make your way down the list. The amount of time you have will determine how far down the list you get.

If you have between 2 days and a week available on your itinerary for Las Vegas then you can explore a lot more than just “the Strip.” The shows that each establishment offers vary in entertainment value and in focus. There are the selection of Cirque du Soleil productions that are beautifully produced and show awe inspiring feats that will entertain children and adults through the length of the performance. For people in Las Vegas who wish for more sedate entertainment there are performances from famous artists such as Celine Dion or Barry Manilow.

If you have more than a week to plan an itinerary for Las Vegas then you have time to go and visit landmarks such as the Hoover Dam. It will allow you to see a large number of attractions in the area and get a more rounded experience of the town which never stops glowing. You can view the smaller attractions that are after ignored by people passing through in a hurry. Taking a holiday in Las Vegas can be one of the most magical exp0eriences of your life, as long as you take the time to explore it properly.

Question: D-Day tour from Cherbourg?

We have 10 people who are arriving in Cherbourg on the Independence of the Seas of Nov. 25. We arrive at port at 9 AM and need to back on the ship by 5 PM.

We would like a tour of the Normandy beaches, American Cemetery, Pointe du Hoc, Ste Mere Eglise, etc.

Are their any reliable tour companies (or perhaps a few taxis) for the 10 of us? If so, how much is the cost and what would we see and do? We would not want to be crowded in one regular van.

I started to wonder whether or not chocolate was really an aphrodisiac. Aphrodisiacs, as you know, are those things that are supposed to make you sensitive to erotic stimulation. The name itself comes from the Ancient Greek goddess, Aphrodite, who was both feared for her might and worshiped for her beauty.

Chocolate’s “love” qualities though could come from our own cultural understanding. We think that it is an aphrodisiac, so it becomes one. I mean, it tastes good. And, then there is that smooth, melting sensation on the tongue, since chocolate’s melting point is just below human body temperature. That’s sort of stimulating in itself, don’t you think? But then we ought to consider the chemical composition of chocolate. What exactly is in the stuff? And where did this idea of it being an aphrodisiac come from in the first place?

The answer to whether or not chocolate is an aphrodisiac differs from person to person, but I will tell you what I found out and let you decide on your own.

According to some sources, the Aztecs, the first people to cultivate cacao, celebrated chocolate’s aphrodisiacal powers. They used to eat vast quantities of food cooked with chocolate during the harvest time, and then engage in raucous orgies during festivals. But there are also reports that say that the men in Aztec society forbid chocolate-cooked food to women, because of its power as an aphrodisiac.

While both of these reports could be factual, I am not sure of them. Because it seems to me that if the men forbid women to eat chocolate, why did they have wild orgies during harvest time? Something doesn’t add up. They would seemingly be forcing it on their women! But that’s just the humble opinion of this author. Nonetheless, the Aztecs thought chocolate had erotic powers.

History is also replete with examples of others who were convinced of chocolate’s powers. The courtesan of French King Louis XV, Madame du Barry, apparently made sure that her lovers drank a brimming cup of chocolate before they were granted entrance to her boudoir. And Casanova, the famed Casanova, drank chocolate daily at the Florian Cafe in Venice, proclaiming the drink to be better, that is, more stimulating, than champagne. And these are just some of the examples.

So obviously people throughout history have considered chocolate to have aphrodisiacal properties. But what gives it those properties? Chemicals! Chocolate contains phenylethylamine, an amino acid that occurs naturally. Some claim that phenylethylamine can even cure hangovers, but it certainly is related to love. Your body, apparently, secretes it when you are struck head over heels. And that’s not the only brain chemical that chocolate contains. It also has levels of dopamine and serotonin, both of which are pain killers and put you in a better mood. Serotonin even causes you to have a pleasurable feeling akin to the one you get when you stand in the sun.

Its no wonder that chocolate’s so popular! Tasty, uplifting, stimulating, what more could you ask for? Oh, aphrodisiacal? Well, none of the sources I could find gave a concrete opinion on whether or not chocolate was really an aphrodisiac. But, in all honesty, who cares? With all the other stuff going for it, does chocolate need to be an aphrodisiac for you to want to eat it? Now if you’ll excuse me, I have some exquisite dark chocolate to nibble on.

Aries (March 21 to April 20)

Be more conscious about balancing your finances. Make sure you save some for the future, but also make sure that you don’t deprive yourself in the present. Feel free to get something nice for yourself every now and then; just don’t spend everything in one go. Splurge a little now, but also make sure to save some for later.

Taurus (April 21 to May 21)

Take good care of your health right now – perhaps make it part of your new year’s resolution. Be more mindful about what you take into your body and how you keep yourself fit. This isn’t about losing weight or getting thin – it is simply time to take care of your physical health.

Gemini (May 22 to June 21)

Focus on accomplishing things on your To Do list – whether this is a list of tasks at work, a list of home chores posted on the fridge, or a list of items to be brought to a repair shop. This month may make you feel a little laid back after your busy schedule during the holidays, so be careful not to sit back for too long. Otherwise, your list will keep getting longer and you will not be able to compete all of it.

Cancer (June 22 to July 22)

Do not be discouraged when your plans for the New Year do not seem to go the way you intended them to. Trust that these disappointments and minor challenges are merely part of the journey, and they will provide means for you to achieve your goals faster. Replace any negative feelings with hope and faith that you will get what you want.

Leo (July 23 to August 21)

Turn every discontent or frustration into opportunities to rise higher. This month, you will find yourself full of inspired energy, so you can put it to good use by taking control of the things in your life. This is the best time to address and resolve issues that cause you discontent or frustration. Take action, and you will see how you can change things for the better.

Virgo (August 22 to September 23)

This is a good time to finally start planning for that long-desired trip – and start putting these plans into action! Pleasure awaits you, and you deserve it. Unwind and let yourself relax. There is always time for everything else. When you get back from your trip, a recharged and lighter you will be ready for the rest of the year.

Libra (September 24 to October 23)

Appreciate the thoughtfulness of the people around you, especially your loved ones. After all, it is said that “it’s the thought that counts.” Having an appreciative and thankful attitude promises more blessings in various forms to come your way. But don’t just do it for the blessings to come; do it with your heart and you will find that the happiness it brings you is worth it!

Scorpio (October 24 to November 22)

Balance work and pleasure. Overwork and too much worry will result in illness. Try to spend more time with family and friends. At work, focus on work and not about wanting to get away from it. During your leisure time, enjoy it and do not think about work. Balance is the key. There is no need to cause yourself more stress by getting sick.

Sagittarius (November 23 to December 22)

Open yourself up this month to meet new friends – you might meet them in the most unexpected circumstances. It also helps to keep a cheerful disposition, because this will attract more new things into your life. The start of the New Year definitely has a lot of good things in store for you.

Capricorn (December 23 to January 20)

Learn to value the trust that others give to you. Think twice before you speak or share information. Consider the consequences of your actions. What may seem trivial to you may mean the world to the other person. Keeping promises you have made also shows that you value the trust given to you. When you promise to do something, the other person trusts that you will really fulfill it.

Aquarius (January 21 to February 19)

Let your inner patience and kindness shine through you – when you do so, you are not only being patient and kind to others, but most of all, to yourself as well. Having a patient and kind disposition will lead you to better enjoyment of the good things that are going on around you. You will also be able to help others through your example, more than you realize.

Pisces (February 20 to March 20)

Satisfy your cravings for certain pleasures – your favorite cake, a movie marathon in your PJs, or that comfortable pair of boots you have been thinking of buying. Treat yourself like a king or a queen this month – you are likely to attract people and circumstances that will prolong this pleasant state of being treated like royalty!

Why Didnt Madame Du Barry Like Marie Anotoinette
