Question: questions about the movie marie antoinette?

my first question is the two aunts, aunt sophie and aunt victoire who are they… because on the imdb website there just aunts but to who. and my second question is at the end or around the end when ambassador mercy leaves. is why does he leave because he isnt one of the royal family members, and my last question is Duchesse de Polignac (rose byrne) during marie antoinette’s party did the duchesse do drugs in one of the scenes it looks like she snorts its so i was just wondering?? so ya thanks

Answer: well i know that the duchesse de polignac does snort what seems to be cocaine in the movie.

Question: Would Marie Antoinette really have loved her daughter like the film suggests?

I’m watching the Marie Antoinette film with Kirsten Dunst, and although I know that these Hollywood films tend to dramatise things, they did actually under-play her labour with Marie Therese a fair bit, considering the way Wikipedia portrayed it…so is her scene where she says that the baby is “no less dear to me” because she isn’t a boy, real?

Would she really have adored her baby girl so much in such sexist times?

Answer: She might well have; there's no reason why she wouldn't. She knew perfectly well that the child was less *important* than a son would have been, and that it was still vital for her to produce an heir to the throne. But that's quite different from feeling less love for her. (A mother in those circumstances might well love a daughter more precisely *because* she felt "poor little scrap, nobody wants you but me".)

Question: Please help with movie suggestions?

I’m bored and am addicted to good movies, and I need to watch something new! I need good suggestions along the lines of good old Period Drama romances like Pride and Prejudice or the Duchess (my faves) or in the style of Sofia Coppola’s movies Lost In Translation, The Virgin Suicides, and Marie Antoinette. They dont have to be recent suggestions, in fact I would prefer if they weren’t. Thanks!

wouldn’t it be great if Hollywood will make another movie about Marie Antoinette and choose a better actor to portray Marie Antoinette instead of Kirsten Dunst?

Answer: That movie blew so profoundly that you can't blame Kirsten Dunst for the blow factor. They should do a story that is historically accurate instead of trying to make a lighthearted romp about a serious and complex period in history. Face it, they were just figuring that a movie about royalty would have to win some kind of Oscar. They always do. The whole concept should be re-done, not just a new cast.
