The high heel shoes attribute their existence to Catherine of Medici from Paris, who wore it owing to her short stature and became a part of the fashion shortly after. These fashionable shoes enjoy a varied history in men and women.
Initially, men and women both wore high heel shoes for centuries. The lower class walked barefoot and people wearing them were mostly popular figures such as actors. They wore indicating their social status and tried to gain importance. The men heels were primarily worn in the courts. The modern fashion comes from Italian style ranging to 15 to 42 cm. 17th century brought a change stating that women wore high heel shoes to seduce and marry men. Later, Giovanni Casanova also declared his admiration for shoes that showed the beautiful legs of women.
The year 1791 brought a significant revolution when Napoleon banished high heel shoes attempting to illustrate equality. Regardless of Napoleonic code, Marie Antoinette in 1793 appeared wearing shoes of two inches to the scaffold. Once again in 1860s heels gained utmost popularity and the contraption of sewing machine bestowed with great varieties in high heel shoes. In fact, Victorians felt wearing them gave a symbolic curve to every woman. The late 19th century brought widespread popularity, but in 1930s the western shoe with heels received favorable response. In early 1960s, miniskirt came into full form and the stilettos emerged into fashion enhancing the look of legs. Stiletto heels are long and thin varying in lengths from 1 to 2 inch, and are especially for women.
Even the tennis shoes came high heeled. The heelless high heel shoes allowed women to wear all types of shoes. Though, it seemed to be the height of eccentricity, the gesture of having an assortment of fashion choices could not be ignored. Women love wearing shoes matching their outfit and appreciate wrapping their delicate and elegant feet. Especially, the high heel shoes certainly bring compliments as they look empowered and highly confident.
High heel shoes indicate fashionable footwear that raises the feet of the wearer significantly. The footwear creates an aesthetic feeling as a person appears slender and tall. Today, they are obtainable in diverse styles and shapes such as pumps, tapered, stilettos, blocks, blade and wedge. Fashion icons regard heels above 8.5cm as high and consider anything below it as medium or low heel. It is noted that women only wear them, but the Cuban heels and cowboy boots are worn by men as well. Initially, raised heels lead to slipping forward while riding, but over decades it became stylized.
France later created high heel shoes ideal for men and women. This trend declined during the French revolution, but resurfaced in 1800s. The shoes went through several changes such as the late 70s preferred low heels, while the late 80s and early 90s were happy with high heels. In this period, the heels shape changed from 70s with block to 90s with tapered and 80s and post 2000 with stilettos. Recently, the shoes heights vary from 4cm (kitten heel) to 10 cm (spike or stilettos). The extreme high heel shoes are available in 13 cm and have aesthetic reasons to be worn. However, they cannot be worn practically everyday.
High heel shoes are popular among women as it adds height to the wearer and give an aesthetic appeal. It is also believed to alter the angle of the foot and also enhances the calves shape.

Question: Sweet 16 party ideas?
Hi, planning a sweet 16 for my daughter,
Any one know some fantastic party theme ideas?? venues (Brisbane)?? and most importantly we are stuck on game ideas?? what to do for entertainment, ??( we are not really interested in a dj.)
Also we were considering a Marie Antoinette theme or movie theme?? <- love to hear your opinion. We really want a costume party or theme because then we know what to do for decorations, so if you have any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.
Any one with personal experiences of a absolute super sweet 16?? if you could talk about your experience and about the theme, food, games, etc...
Thanks in advance,
All help would be great because we are starting to run out of time so we really need an idea for the party.
Answer: A masked ball, or fairytale theme it may sound really childish but with all the girls in beautful dresses and all the boys in suits will make it look so elegant, if everyone wears a mask it will add a touch of mystery to the night, a nice venue would be a hall with a large dance area and gardens, for food i would suggest a sophisticated buffet, not the usual sandwiches and crisps but a more mature selection of food, entertainment will be dancing, hope this gives you inspiration, you could try a more modernised version of my idea simply by making it a masked disco, good luck

The word Papillon is French for “butterfly.” The Papillon was named for its erect butterflylike ears that frame its face. Apparently the Papillon was developed in France during the sixteenth century from a small, long-eared dog called the Belgian Spaniel or Dwarf Spaniel. At the time the spaniels were popular in Spain, Italy and France. Down-ear and erect-ear types exist today and are judged by the same breed standards in AKC shows.
The diminutive breed was popular with European landed gentry and royal courtsÂ’ ladies for many years before the mutation created the Papillon known today. The petite Papillon was designed to be a decorative lapdog. It has been reported that Madame Pompadour and Marie Antoinette owned Papillons. Ownership today is not limited to the upper class.
Papillons are excellent companions. They are hardier than they appear and are comfortable in all climates. They love the outdoors. The Papillon probably prefers to romp in the yard or take a leashed walk and rather would not be picked up and held. The Papillon can socialize with other small pets and children who have been properly instructed in small dog care.
Personality
A Papillon is lively, intelligent and loves to learn. It is loving and loveable, but is sometimes suspicious of strangers and prefers the company of its family. The Papillon is best trained with gentleness and consistency. He wants to please his owners and will look to you for rewards both verbal and edible. The Papillon is usually well represented in obedience classes and often surpasses larger dogs in learning ability. The Papillon also makes an excellent therapy or visitation dog after minimal obedience training.
Appearance
The Papillon stands 8 to 11 inches tall and weighs about 9 to 10 pounds. The Papillon is has a dainty and refined appearance with a fine bone structure. His legs are straight and feet are elongated. Its eyes are dark and not bulgy. The lip margins, nose rubber and eyelid rims are black. The tail is long, high set, and arched over the body.
Grooming
The coat is long, fine, silky and requires regular brushing. The Papillon does not have an undercoat. The coat falls flat on the back and sides with a profuse frill on the chest. It is short and close on the skull, muzzle and front legs. The rear of the forelegs, tail and thighs are covered with long hair. The PapillonÂ’s coat is easy to maintain with weekly brushing. You will need a plastic pin brush or bristle brush and comb. You can use a special whitening shampoo to make the coat shine.
Brush through the coat with a pin brush, then comb with a medium-toothed comb.

I have fond memories of Halloween in my childhood home. My sister and I would of course put on our costumes and go home-to-home proclaiming “Trick or Treat!” and collecting enough candy to thoroughly rot our teeth. Then we would return home to sit on the floor in front of the television still in our costumes and watch Disney’s animated version of Washington Irving’s, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.
As we got older my sister became more creative and began concocting elaborate haunted houses and parties Halloween food from those parties are in my Halloween Recipe Collection.
I can remember a year where we had a guillotine that had a wooden blade that would come sliding down to “behead” the damsel that was unfortunate enough to have been drafted for the role of Marie Antoinette. That year we also had a bowl full of slimy eyeballs that were nothing more than skinless grapes, yet felt both very convincing and disgusting when you were blindfolded & asked to put your hand in the bowl. One of my favorite effects was a bubbling witches cauldron that she filled with lemonade and 7-Up and colored with green food coloring. After the punch was poured into a black plastic bucket, she dropped in dry ice to make it boil, bubble and smoke.
My sister is six years older than I, and the Halloween parties that she would host for our friends had to be not only fun for my playmates, but they had to impress her cool older friends too – that included over-the-top Halloween food! Many of the recipes in my Halloween Recipe Collection began as our first attempts to impress other ghosts, ghouls, and beasts.
Now that I am older and have a child of my own, I am always looking for new ways to create something special for her Halloween and I am very thankful that I had a creative sister for starting me on the road to the fun foods in my Halloween Recipe Collection! I hope that some of the recipes will inspire you.

The Halloween season is nearly here, and it’s time to start planning your Halloween party. Looking for some inspiration? If you are looking for ways to host a grown up party, we’ve got ideas ranging from casual to formal. Parties don’t have to be huge costume parties, there are lots of ways to celebrate the holiday in a low key way with a small group of friends. Let your personal style be your guide. Whether your Halloween celebration will be spent mixing up groovy cocktails for friends or doing fun arts and crafts projects with the family, we have some fun filled ideas to get your party started.
Halloween Dinner Party – Invite a small group of friends over for a grown up dinner party. Select a theme such as Gothic vampires, zombies etc and use that idea as inspiration for your invitation, decor, menu and activities. Make your own invitations, inviting guests to come to your shindig in costumes related to the theme. This is fun for a small group of adults on Halloween, as a way to celebrate the holiday in grown up style. Choosing a theme for your celebration such as the Wizard of Oz and inviting guests to come as their favorite character adds lot of fun and anticipation for your guests. The Wizard of Oz just released a brand new line of costumes this year, including a very scary looking Flying Monkey Costume.
Seance – This is great for an older teen sleepover or an adult dinner party. Decorate with lots of candles and set up a spooky graveyard scene with Styrofoam tombstones. Have a Ouija board ready to call forth the dearly departed. Keep the party focused on fun by calling only on famous long dead historical figures like James Dean, Elvis, Marie Antoinette, etc. This type of party can get really spooky or totally hilarious, depending on your group and how much wine has been enjoyed.
Halloween Cocktail Party – If you don’t want to do a formal dinner or a big blow out costume party, why not have a cocktail party? Halloween drinks and yummy treats for adults are a nice way to celebrate without all the fuss of getting dressed up and going out to a big bash. Or for guests that do, schedule your party to be the first stop of the night. Create a signature spooky drink that you can make in advance of the party. Don’t forget to try it out before serving to your guests!
Halloween Tea – Hosting a Halloween themed afternoon tea is a great way to have a formal afternoon party for adults. Use black tablecloths, candelabras with black or orange candles, spider webs and dead flowers as the centerpiece. Serve up bite sized Halloween treats such as san-witches, pumpkin scones and spooky cupcakes. Salad or appetizer plates work well, and you can actually order all black party ware to create the proper impact.
Halloween Scrap Booking Party – Gather together scrap booking paper and supplies with a Halloween focus, and get your scrap booking friends together. A great way to accomplish a personal project while having a fun social activity. This party is great for both experienced scrap bookers as well as friends who are new to the idea. You can provide the Halloween related supplies and ask guests to bring their own tools and other supplies. Make sure to have some tasty treat and beverages on hand, and you’ve got all the makings for a fun cropping party!
Whatever you decide, your party will definitely benefit from some advance planning. Consider the type of friends you want to invite, and how that group will respond to the idea and timing. For a more formal celebration, a Halloween themed afternoon tea is perfect for moms and daughters. Dinner parties are perfect for a smaller group of friends, and you can focus on pampering them with amazing handmade invitations and menu creations. Cocktail parties are ideal in big cities where your guests may have several social events to attend. Choose what’s best suited to your family. Most importantly, determine your costume and order it right now online. Happy Haunting!
