Question: Napoleon and French Revolution help!?
Name thes events in the order they happened from first to last, Tennis Court Oath, Napoleon’s Coup d’Etat, The Directory, Reign of Terro (the Terror), Napoleon crowned Emperor, Napoleon’s retreat from Moscow, Battle of Trafalgar, Battle of Waterloo………….any help would be thankful, please and ty!
Answer: 1. Tennis Court Oath (June, 1789): Parts of the Third and Second Estates agree to continue to meet until a constitution is drafted and enshrined, despite any orders otherwise from the monarchy.
2. The Terror (1793-4): Government carries out a slew of executions by guillotine, driven in part by factional violence. Something in the vicinity of 20 000 - 40 000 are killed.
3. The Directory (1795-9): Five directors hold executive power in France, to replaced by...
4. Napoleon's Coup (1799): Along with his brother, Emmanuel Joseph Sieyès and others, Napoleon rescinds one constitution with his own - and in so doing, takes the post of First Consul. This does not suffice for him, so he proclaims himself...
5. Emperor (1804). He would soon after take on the title of King of Italy (1805).
6. However, by the Battle of Trafalgar (1805), his plans on England are thwarted, in some part because of superior British Naval power. He redirects his focus on the European mainland, including...
7. Moscow (1812). After a prolonged march, Napoleon hightails it out of Russia to focus on domestic concerns, and at least in part because of the devastating military costs of a land war in Russian winter.
8. Waterloo (1815) is Napoleon's final stand - well, sort of. He's defeated by forces that include the English and Prussians, and forced into exile.
