With the US recession seeming more and more likely, people are turning to art as a secure investment and as a hedge against inflation due to the very low correlation between the art market and more mainstream investment markets like the stock market. Even in a down market, prices hold-up better for fine art, better than any type of object. The best way to make a killing investing in art is to pick the next big thing before everyone else does.

“Why an emerging artist?”….Well, in the same way that stock market investors get into the habit of attaching too much worth to their favorite stock despite all fundamental evidence to the contrary, artificially upholding its value ’til the very end, art enthusiasts too often ‘place their bets’ based upon name, or brand, recognition, when it is more often than not the lesser-known artists who are the better value.

When looking at investing in art it is easy to focus purely on the aesthetics which is really only part of the investment. If you purchase an artwork you are not just investing in the artwork its self, you are also investing in the artists career which is especially important when looking at emerging artists.

I did have the chance to email his representative who did notify me that they have a few San Francisco and New York area galleries that they are in the middle of contract negotiations with, but still deciding on representation. She did tell me that they are looking for nonexclusive representation.That can be a challenge in California, and New York.

Since LORD TOPH wants to be able to offer his works globally, and not just in 1 gallery, this is why he is not yet featured in a “well established” gallery.

Usually when a gallery or agent decides to contract an artist they want exclusive representation. Exclusive representation means that the agent or gallery will not allow the artist to sell their work to any other buyer. All sales have to go through the gallery (or agent).

Now is the time to go for the non-traditional investments and to look to instruments that over time will, and have, served as true stores of value, such as ART, and when investing in art invest in the next great master.

Question: i have a report on George Washington’s Indian affairs during his presidency, does anyone know what these are?

links w/ info would be very much appreciated… i need to find information on George Washington’s Indian Affairs… which i really dont know what my teacher is talking about at all, so its kinda hard. It would have been a lot nicer if i got like, GW and the Revolution, or maybe, the French and Indian War. But no, i have to find stuff on the indian affairs??? anyway, im supposed to figured out the effect this issue had on the administration, the key persons involved, the effect on domestic and international policy, and also a brief history of the event or run up to the event….

Question: when was torture outlawed in the french revolution and which king outlawed it?

I would really like to know the specific year in which torture was outlawed at this time, and if possible, the reasons as to why it was outlawed? this info would be so great to have, i cant seem to find the answers anywhere, maybe you guys could help….?

Answer: According to this site (cited below), torture was outlawed in 1790. It would have been King Louis XVI, who was executed in 1793.

"...the constitutional monarchy [was] established in July, 1790. Power mostly resided in the National Assembly, with the king having only a weak temporary veto on its actions. In order to weaken old feudal loyalties, France was broken up into 83 new provinces known as departements, the basis of France's administration to this day. Jury trials were established, torture was outlawed, and a more humane form of execution, the guillotine, was introduced."

Question: Ancient history?? Ideas?

Okay, I’ve got to do a 1500+ word assignment about an aspect of ancient history, but it’s got to be fairly specific (for example, it shouldn’t be about something broad such as ‘Why did Rome fall?’, something more like ‘What role did Christianity play in the decline of the Roman empire?’ It offers quite a bit of freedom and flexibility, so I don’t know what to do it on. I was thinking about doing something about the fall of the Roman empire but I thought it was too boring and aren’t too keen on it, so I need suggestions.

(Let me emphasis that it must be about ANCIENT HISTORY, ie. only things before the French Revolution).

As for everything before the French Revolution not technically been ancient history, I know; I was just told that it had to be before the Revolution, so blame my teacher, not me…

Answer: You may start on the Silk Route (established by Han Dynasty in 114 BCE), and its impact on human history and progress through trades and exchange of knowledge.
